Design Brief: Use the donated jackets from Spyder to upcycle a garment. Use the process of draping to create the garment patterns
The Spyder Upcycle Dress
For this project, the apparel brand Spyder donated tubs of customer-returned jackets to the University so that my draping class could use the materials to upcycle a new garment. Since Spyder is an outdoor ski and snowwear brand, I was inspired to create a garment with a dainty flare. I repurposed four jackets from the donated Spyder gear and turned them into a gathered dress complete with Spyder branding embellishment throughout. This dress walked in the 2024 Spring Fashion Show hosted by the Apparel and Merchandising Program!
